CYSD candidates for 2-year school director

It is time to get back to what matters: our community. Amelia and Lydell are running for 2-year terms on November's ballot to ensure that integrity, transparency, and facts are part of every school board decision. With their decades of community involvement, home ownership, and parenting they know what matters.

Amelia McMillan

Committed to building her ideal life through passion, character and hard work--Amelia McMillan is a new personification for York County.Born and raised in the area, McMillan attended the Red Lion School District. As a young adult, she cultivated profound insight into public mental health, after navigating through her own personal struggles.

 

With exceptional growth, came an exceptional calling to public life; McMillan became active in the community--working as a mentor, assisting victims of domestic abuse relocate to safety, participating in York City cleanups, and regularly donating blood.

After over a decade heading Human Resources for a local restaurant chain, she brings rare experience to the pressures involved in managing budgets around human interest. McMillan is committed to open discussions with the community, from all sides, and understands her candidacy as a facilitator to policies that directly serve people.

 

She resides with her husband, who works as an automotive technician, and their two children in the Central York School District.

Dr. Lydell Nunn

Dr. Nunn relocated to York in 2006 with his wife and two children. After opening his practice as a Chiropractic doctor in 2007, Dr. Nunn began searching the community for outreach opportunities, landing with the York-East Rotary Club. He served as president of the organization from 2008-2009, where he is still an active member to this day.

 

Dr. Nunn also has served on the board of Family-Child Resources overseeing mental health and substance abuse treatments, early intervention and other services supporting York County families. He has also served as the president of York Little League from 2018-2021.

 

Dr. Nunn earned his bachelor's degree in anatomy and his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas, TX. In 2020, he completed a Master's degree in Astronomy from American Public University, a lifelong dream of his.

 

Currently, Dr. Nunn is pursuing volunteer opportunities that arise from his passions as a member of both the York County and Rittenhouse Astronomical Societies. His goal is to teach the next generation of amateur and professional astronomers!
